| | Just so you know what happened to me, that I didn't drop off the face of the earth... I went back home...to Paraguay...this summer for two months. Worked three weeks with two different mission teams and the rest of the two months alone with God and our Paraguayan brothers and sisters. God has sprinkled the last two months in Paraguay with miracles. I have been honored and privileged to watch Him work through the church, through me, and through the people who prayed for me in the heart of South America. In the church at Barrio Parque God ran a Vacation Bible School for forty kids, built four brick walls in the new church building, and carved a 12-foot deep septic tank out of the red Paraguayan clay. God allowed me to help perform translation/administrative tasks for the team from NC so that the people who did not speak Spanish could capture some of the vision of the Paraguayan Church. Finally, He sent me as a temporary member to the church in Barrio Parque, helping out with kids there every Sunday for almost two months. In el Renuevo, the main church, we finished the downstairs bathrooms with walls and tiling and helped fit in a working sink. We helped lay flooring in the pastor’s office and helped repaint the cracked, moldy walls. God let me pray and participat with the worship team, the youth group, and the women’s ministry. God provided a short-term computer class in the Presbyterian School and let me help the pastor make visitations to encourage and pray with the people in the church. I got to watch God go out into the community to witness to people in their homes, inviting people to Christ and consoling hurting hearts. I never thought so much could happen... People talk about spiritual highs on mission trips. I did not have a spiritual high, thank God...I was there for two months, long enough for the excitement to wear off and real life to hit me in the face. But the cool thing was that even though I was just normal me, God was also just normal God. And normal God...well...when life hit me in the face, He was there to make it the greatest adventure I could ever ask for. Challenges are chances to see Him work...and I have never seen Him work like that...maybe I just never noticed before. Thank you God!!! I made it home very safe. I'm very homesick, though--it wasn't so bad at first, but now I'm feeling it a little more. It'll be okay, though--I'm here in the US because that's where I can be the most useful for Paraguay. Gotta finish my studies in order to be an effective doctor there...so I'd be cheating them if I didn't study here. So I HAVE to be here, for Paraguay... And I think I'm loving it...
